A rare late 17th/early 18th century boxwood or fruitwood Nocturnal for both Bears, signed Robert Denton, the shaped and pierced handle marked "Both Bears" and ''Robert Denton'', the brass centre pivot with rotating volvelle and two indexes marked LB and GB (for Great and Little Bear), larger disk marked with months and days and the smaller disk marked with 24-hour and 12-hour scales, the reverse with central star motif, surrounded by two further scales, one for each bear, L 14.5 cm, note, missing index arm.
