The W124 is considered to the last of the “million mile Mercedes”. Most engines and running gear were carried over from the previous model, but there were quite a few improvements. Multi-link independent rear suspension was a great improvement, and the whole car felt like a much more modern driving experience. The W124 had advanced crash protection, a bodyshell structure that crumpled progressively for example, while active safety was advanced thanks to the adoption of anti-lock braking as standard in the all the cars, being progressively introduced across the range. The range included, 4-door saloons, 5-door Estate Cars, 2-door 2 Door Coupe, 2 Door Convertible and a 6 Door Limousine.
The W124 Mercedes offered here is described by the vendor to be in very good condition in all aspects, and to drive very well. The brilliant silver paintwork is good with a bright finish, and the full navy blue leather interior is excellent. The car has had only three owners from new, and comes with service history which includes 23 service stamps in the book, old MOTs and some bills. The car was last serviced less than 100 miles ago which included a new alternator and drive belt. Two new front wings have been fitted as part of recent recommissioning work. Extras include roof rails, electric sunroof, electric driver’s seat, leather interior and a tow bar. Overall a good example of these tried and trusted estates, with good history.
