Georgian Napoleonic War Period Officers Spadroon Sword

A good quality example by the London sword cutler Bland and Foster.   82 cm, straight blade  with engraved decoration of a crowned GIIIR cypher. The back edge engraved "Bland & Foster". The hilt with single bar gilt guard, the ebonized grip decorated with an oval medallion engraved with a crowned Garter strap with S to the centre. Complete with black leather and gilt mounted scabbard the top mounted engraved with the cutlers details. Overall GC, engraving to blade faint.

Bland and Foster operated from this address from 1788 to 1791.
