Nearly 60 standard-sized postcards with a shipping/maritime or military interest. The lot comprises 17 military cards, including the seven real photographic studies in our last photo which include two views of German World War One POWs at Frith Hill, three scenes from Shorncliffe Army Camp and injured men at Addington Palace War Hospital. The 21 shipping views include the TSS Bermuda lying on the rocks at Drumbeg, Sutherland; and the SS Mahratta, from the stern, wrecked at Goodwins in 1909. There are also six Zeppelin-related cards, including one of the wreckage of a zep shot down by Lt William Leefe Robinson, who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his effort; and other cards with military postmarks – mainly army camps. The cards with the postmarks are in a very mixed condition, but most of the other cards are in good or better condition, though some have the usual minor faults such as edge wear and creasing.
