Wingrove" on board "[H.M.S.] America, Table Bay [C.G.H.]" (one of the British ships that took part in the successful capture of Dutch Cape Colony on 15 Sept. 1795) carried privately and posted locally in London with a fine oval "Charing Crofs/Unpaid/Penny Poft" on the front, with good contents; "It bis now more than 6 months since the Orpheus sailed with the first Despatches of the surrender of this Colony...as this goes by a ship not deemed the surest of all conveyance...should you receive this safe, be so good as to forward it to Mrs. W...".
