A CANNEY HILL POTTERY CAT
19th Century, brown-glazed, seated on an integral oval plinth. 27cm high
The Canney Hill Pottery was set up near Bishop Auckland in South Durham in c.1840 and closed in 1913. It produced decorative and table wares for the rapidly expanding mining towns and villages in the area. A very similar example of this cat forms part of the Bowes Museum Collection, Barnard Castle.
Restoration to the base and ears.
