Of Victorian vegetable show interest; a silver presentation trophy cup, Birmingham 1875, embossed and chased with root vegetables, inscribed "The Wordsley Root Show, November 19th 1875, presented by, Edward Webb & Sons, Seedsmen to the Queen, Wordsley, for the 12 heaviest roots of Webb's Imperial Swede, first prize awarded to. Messrs G & J Perry, Acton Pigott." 18.5cm, 179gm
Edward Webb and Sons, are English seed merchants or seedsmen, dating back to c. 1850 when Edward Webb started a business in Wordsley, near Stourbridge. The company is still trading to this day.
