The Midland Railway by F S Williams 1888 - a compendious 678 page publication detailing the then construction, maintenance and present operations of the railways with particular emphasis regarding the then newly opened Settle and Carlisle line and its extensive engineering works. Also with over 120 illustrations, plus a number of maps. Interesting accounts regarding locomotive, carriage and goods transportation mentioning its lines region by region.
