Mauritius. 1859 2d Blue, fine used (SG40) - this is one of the classic rarities of the philatelic world having been printed from the 1848 Plate as re-engraved by R Sherwin and is from position 10 of the the sheet of 12 (as verified by Stanley Gibbons). It is a beautiful looker but has a small thin on the reverse, which is reflected in the estimate. The stamp is presented along with the 1947 set commemorating the Centenary of the First British Colonial Postage Stamp.
