A GERMAN SILVER BOX
maker's mark AF, Hanau, c.1900, the hinged cover chased with musicians, within a foliate border, the sides chased with a frieze of scrolls and flowers, the interior gilded. 8.3cm by 7.8cm, 3.5 troy ounces
The marks on the flange are clear. The lid opens and closes well. There is a small crack in the side of the cover, but it doesn't go all the way through. The decoration is well defined.
