A VICTORIAN 1827 PATTERN ADMIRALS SWORD AND SCABBARD. A fine sword with a 73 cm pointed, single edged blade with broad shallow fuller, the blade decorated with a fouled anchor and royal monogram amongst foliage. The blade with a sharpened edge, possibly refurbished for service. Indistinctly marked to the ricasso 'Johnston (?) ... New Bond Street'. The broad guard with crowned fouled anchor, folding catch and wire bound shagreen grip, lion's head pommel and tied bullion sword knot.The black leather scabbard with fine 'Admiral's pattern' mounts with bands of oak leaves and acorns. Twi ring suspension. 88cm overall.

A fine sword in very attractive condition with some rubbing and light marking to the blade. Retaining pin on top mount to scabbard slightly bent.
