RARE INTERNEE MAIL CARD WITH FINE PURPLE "GRATIS" LABEL - EX CORPORAL IN BOURBAKI's ARMY; Attractive 15 Feb. 1871 Official PC used from St. Gallen to the "Bureau de l'International" in Neuchatel with an exceptionally fine purple "Militaires francais/internes en Suisse/Gratis" label (very slightly off the edge) on the front, also having a v. fine "ST. GALLEN" cds at top right. The sender, "Mathieu Alfred... caserne cavalerie", was with Bourbaki's Army when it crossed into France to escape the Prussian Army. Rare and of Exhibition Quality.
