λ A rare mid 18th century straw work ivory fan with pagoda sticks, the ivory guards carved with figures and scrolls and incorporating small straw work figures and buildings backed with iridescent mother of pearl, the 'pagoda' sticks finely decorated with coloured straw work figures, trees and buildings, the leaf finely painted with a soldier approaching a king or emperor and his attendants, with classical pillars and arches to the background, all surrounded by a sumptuous floral border, the verso painted with rustic scenes, paste stones at rivet, circa 1750, length 29.5cm
