1873 ABERGELDIE CASTLE ENV. & LETTER: Env. franked 1d red (pl. 165, SG143) tied by v. fine "ABERDEEN/D/SP20/73?1" duplex with accompanying letter paper, both imprinted "ABERGELDIE CASTLE/ABERDEEN". The letter states "General Sir William Knollys is desired by the Price and Princess of Wales to return their best thanks to Mr [Thomas] Dowson for the song on 'The Betrothal of the Duke of Edinburgh and the Grand Duchess of [sic] Maria of Russia' which he has forwarded for their Royal Highnesses acceptance". Very fine.
