Donald Woods was the Editor of the South African newspaper, " East London Daily Dispatch " from 1965 - 1977.
He escaped from South Africa and arrived in Britain in 1978 with his family. The film " Cry Freedom " was made about this escape.
He was awarded a C.B.E having settled with his family in Surbiton.
