A large and rare carved painted wood figure of Kuan Yin, the Bodhisattva of mercy, seated cross legged on a draped base with both hands raised, the swirling celestial garment looped at the elbows and sweeping out over the right shoulder. The head is tilted to one side with a serene expression and wearing a high lotus diadem.
Traces of gilding and original polychrome.
