1887 Pattern Heavy Cavalry officer's undress sword and scabbard by Wilkinsons, ricasso marked Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall London in 4 lines below Royal Appointment logo, blade 40% ornately etched on both sides including crown over VR cypher, 1 side of blade additionally etched with initial G.A.L.C. in scroll, back of blade numbered 29398 (which records show it was made in 1899), wire and fishskin grip, generally extremely fine, scabbard incorrect.
The only officer that I can identify from these initials is George Albert Lade Carew who was commissioned in the Bedfordshire Regt, later transferred to 7th Hussars 31/10/83, awarded D.S.O. for service in 1896-7 Matabele Wars in London Gazette 20/5/98. BUYER MUST COLLECT. (See photo)
