£1,000
British Victorian 1871 Pattern Hampshire Carabiniers Cavalry Helmet. Silvered skull with some period repairs. White metal star helmet plate being the Regimental badge with Queens Crown. Helmet has silvered metal cross base and fluted plume holder which houses a falling red plume. Gilt metal rosette to top of holder. Silvered rosettes which secure a replacement black leather backed chin chain. Green leather to underside of the peak. Original brown leather liner with a section missing. Small size.
Old soldered repairs to the body of the helmet on the left front side. Usual service wear overall. Has a nylon thread on the inside which I believe has been placed there to help hold the front laurel leaf insignia in place?
