Footnote:
Rob Denton was a member of the Reading Society of Model Engineers, regularly showing his large scale locomotives across the country to the delight of young and old. Rob had an eye for detail which was reflected in the detailing of his models.
Class 40 Diesel 1-Co-Co-1 locomotives were commonly known as 'Whistlers' from the distinctive noise made by the turbo-chargers. The Class ended service in 1985. The D326 was the locomotive in the notorious 'Great Train Robbery' of 1963. Renumbered later to 40126 withdrawn in February 1984. Offered to NRM York, but declined and scrapped shortly after at the Doncaster Works.
