The Jaguar XJ6 was introduced in September 1968, followed by the Daimler version in October 1968, and continued to 1973. Power-assisted steering and leather upholstery were standard on the 2.8 L De Luxe and 4.2 L models and air conditioning was offered as an optional extra on the 4.2 L. In March 1970 it was announced that the automatic transmission would be uprated to the Borg-Warner Model 12 unit. Around this time minor changes were made as well, such as moving the rear reflectors from beside to below the rear lights; on the interior the chrome gauge bezels were changed for black ones, to cut down on distracting reflections. In 1972 the option of a long-wheelbase version, providing a 4" increase in leg room for passengers in the back, became available. 78,973 Jaguar XJ6s were produced.

The vendor states that this is a one previous owner Jaguar XJ6 Series 4.2 manual. The car is said never to have been painted, and still looks good in original Warwick grey with red interior, one of the nicest colour combinations, and so very "Period". This car is superb, and has just had £3,000 spent on it to get a "No advisory" MOT. There is a file full of maintenance history, and the car has only done 75,000 miles.

The car has just been fitted with a new stainless steel exhaust system and new tyres. We are told that there is not a speck of rust apparent anywhere, and everything works perfectly. The car still feels tight, and drives impeccably, it is not concours, but rather in superb original condition, ageing beautifully, with a lovely patina. The car comes with its original books and proof of rustproofing from new. Just in outstanding condition, a 4.2 manual, this must be one of the best available.
