1911 Royal Humane Society Medal (Bronze) (Successful) to Ernest E. Marston R.N. 13th Jan 1911, 1914-15 Star trio to 234706 E.E. Marston P.O. R.N. and KGV Royal Navy LSGC to 234706 E.E. Marston P.O. H.M.S. Cyclop, polished and contact marks, mainly fair/fine, last 4 swing mounted as worn.
With RHS certificate of award presented to "Ernest E. Marston A.B. H.M.S. Black Prince presented by Admiral Sir George Digby Morant K.C.B. on 14th March 191, certificate has been folded and damage to edge from being in a frame.
RHS report on award:
"At 3.30pm on the 13th January 1911, Private E. Taylor R.M.L.I., accidently fell into Dover harbour, the depth being 31 feet, the tide strong, and the weather very cold. E.E. Marston, A.B., H.M.S. Black Prince, plunged in fully clothed and rescued him."
With copied service record, he was born 3/12/89 in Twickenham, enlisted 13/9/05 as a Boy, at bottom of service record it states the RHS award was "for saving a man's life in Arosa Bay", this in contrast to the RHS report which stated the event was in Dover. In WW1 he served on Actaeon, Pembroke, Jason, Lance Hecla, Appollo, Dolphin, still serving in 1921. (See photo) (R)
