AN 1854 PATTERN GRENADIER GUARDS SWORD AND SCABBARD BY HENRY WILKINSON.
With an 82cm straight fullered blade tapering to a fine spear-point, etched with flaming grenade and crown to one side, monogram and crown to the other, both sides with eight battle honours, previous owners initials G.S.C. believed to be for George Sidney Clive, the blade marked for Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London and numbered to the back 31605 suggesting a date of 1892. With a steel guard decorated with a flaming grenade in an oval, with Guard's grip in fish skin and seven wire bindings, the single piece backstrap and pommel with domed end. In a nickel mounted leather service scabbard, 100cm overall.
