Defender's 1857 Indian Mutiny Medal Defence of Lucknow clasp to B. Devine 32nd L.I. light contact marks, very fine. With copied roll and 3 pages of service record, Brien Devine was born in Swineford, Co Mayo, enlisted in 31st Foot 18/11/43, served with 31st in Sutlej Campaign and issued medal with 3 clasps. He transferred to 80th Foot 1/4/46, served in Burma campaign 1852-3, was present at the capture of Prome and night attack of the enemy on the Heights of Prome, issued IGSM Pegu clasp. Transferred to 32nd Foot 1/2/54, present in the defence of Lucknow 1st July to 22nd December and subsequent campaign in reduction of Oudh 1857-8. Awarded LSGC 1862. He was discharged 3/5/64 on completion of 21 years service. (See photo) (R)
