A stunning 18ct white gold, sapphire, and diamond résille collar necklace by Pragnell, showcasing 89.50ct of rich blue brilliant sapphires that have been intricately set on to a flexible 18ct white gold, flexible, résille latticework frame, the small brilliant cut diamonds (2.78ct) interspersing the sapphires composed of three main rows, with a yellow gold back setting, 95.3g, 43cm long. [Similar examples were made famous by the House of Cartier at the beginning of the 20th century. Queen Alexandra (1844-1925) started a fashion for dog collar style necklaces in the late 19th century when she was Princess of Wales. Cartier was subsequently commissioned to make an elaborate résille necklace for this Queen and Empress in 1904, which was worn frequently during her reign.
