Robert Fletcher, Chester an oak longcase clock the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell with the thirteen-inch break-arch painted dial having black Roman numerals, painted floral decoration to the four corners, a subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture and signed Rt. Fletcher, Chester, the oak case having mahogany crossbanding, fluted quarter columns to the trunk, fluted columns to the hood and surmounted by a swan-neck pediment, height 223cm. Notes: There are two clockmakers recorded named Robert Fletcher being father and son, with the younger Robert working in Chester from circa 1800 when he took over the business from his father who was first recorded in Linenhall Street in 1782 and then Higher Bridge Street and Foregate Street.
