Taxidermy: Scottish Grouse Foot Brooch.
These were popular tourist souvenirs from the Scottish highlands dating back to the Victorian period. Often gifted to loved ones. They were also worn on kilts to stop them flapping at the front.
This example mounted in base metal and dating from the 1960s / 1970s. Marked “Mizpah” - a Hebrew word that means 'watchtower' and is loosely interpreted as 'May God watch over you'.
