White Star Line: Rare cast bronze fully functioning porthole that was formally the property of Captain Benjamin Steel, Harbour Master in Southampton for the White Star Line, reputed to be the last man to leave the Titanic at Southampton before she sailed on her fatal maiden voyage. The porthole, marked 10S, short for ten on the starboard side of the ship, by family repute is from the Majestic which was launched in 1889 and made her last sailing to New York on 14th January 1914, being sold for scrap upon her return to England. A similar porthole, believed to be 10P, number ten on the port side, was built into the porch of Captain Steel's house in West End, Southampton and is currently still in place. 19½ins.
