Exempt Ship Letter. 1833 (Oct 1) Entire letter from Demerara to Liverpool endorsed "Consignees Letter" and "Barton", handstamped scarce "LIVERPOOL / EXEMPT SHIP LR" (ExSL.2), addressed to the port of landing, therefore exempt from both the ship letter charge and inland postage, backstamped "LIVERPOOL / SHIP LETTER". Two pressed file folds, otherwise fine and an unusually clear strike of this very scarce Exempt Ship Letter handstamp. Photo on Page 52
