A Berlin KPM twin handled porcelain vase, 19th century. The ovoid body incorporated with a detailed, hand painted polychrome scene set within a gilt crowned cartouche against a matt blue ground to the front depicting a detailed view of the The Old Kaiser Wilhelm Palace, the former Royal Prussian residence on Unter den Linden boulevard in central Berlin with an equestrian statue of Frederick the Great alongside figures walking in the foreground. Modelled with ornate gilt highlighted bisque handles beautifully sculpted as semi nude maidens intertwined with scrolling acanthus and flowers moulded in high relief issuing internally from the gilt rimmed vase. The ovoid body is supported on a circular pedestal foot and plinth of octagonal form with the vase being fired in two sections, centrally screw-mounted within the foot and plinth. Blue sceptre mark and red imperial orb mark beneath. 25 in (63 cm) height.
Provenance: Acquired from a German aristocratic family.
Condition report: Some minor wear to the gilt decoration and the blue ground. The foliage to the right of the crown appears to be partially repainted. However there are no signs of chips or cracks and restoration in this respect having been thoroughly inspected under UV light.
