Interesting early violoncello labelled Januarius Gaglianus, Fecit Neapoli ****, the two piece back of medium curl with similar wood to the sides, the head of plainish wood, the table of a medium/fine width grain and the varnish of a reddish-brown colour on a golden ground, 29 1/4", 74.30cm

This violoncello has a table sound post and many other cracks, the back appears in better condition but with a stress fracture running up from the lower bouts for approximately 4", some evidence of previous worm infestation.
