More Information

We have examined the letter from Prince Albert and believe it to be authentic. It is written on a satin-finish paper watermarked "J. Whatman Turkish Mill 1849", corresponding with the date of the letter (1850). There is a considerable variation in the thickness and darkness of the ink, consistent with being handwritten.

We would highly recommend that prospective bidders view this lot in person where possible, and satisfy themselves as to its authenticity prior to placing a bid.
