Ernest Robert Gribble was born on the 1st of April 1882 in Plymouth. He joined the Roya Navy on his 18th birthday, first serving as a Boy 1st Class.
He spent the whole of the Great War serving on HMS Tiger and saw service at Jutland. Gribble was awarded the Long Service Good Conduct Medal in 1915 and pensioned in March 1922.
He was sentenced to 3 months of imprisonment on the 9th of October 1930 for opening mail in transit.
