A rare, probably unique, William & Mary well-designed and decorated iron ‘sugar’ hammer and chopper, circa 1700

The handle delightfully designed as a long-tailed bird, with a notched and filed shaft attached by copper rivets to the hammer/chopper, the hammer-end wonderfully designed as a stylised head complete with flat-cap, the chopper having two pierced hanging holes and curved blade, and wriggle-work decorated with birds, length 21cm, height 13.8cm
