WHITE STAR LINE: World War One H.M.T. Britannic: Rare early gilt bronze World War One enamel badge. It takes the form of a World War One period navy button but cast in solid bronze with gilt wash. As purchased within the first few months of the ships life circa. 1914/15. During her fit out it was still unclear for which use she would be used, ultimately she found use as a hospital ship and earned the title 'H.M.H.S.' but it was considered that she might be used as a transport and thus the 'H.M.T.' found on this badge which would have been produced before she entered for war service. 1¼ins.
