English School (19th century) View of La Salerie and Castle Cornet from First Tower, Guernsey, watercolour, 17 x 25cm. * The Martello or Loop Tower that was once situated near the Red Lion public house was demolished during road widening in the early 20th century. It was an important and strategic point and look out on the coast for defence against a possible French invasion.
