Group of six campaign medals, consisting of 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, Defence
Medal, War Medal 1939-45, Korea Medal and UN Medal for Korea. The Korea
Medal named to 14426297 Pte R Green ACC (Army Catering Corps). Roland Green
was born in Leeds, Yorkshire in 1922 and enlisted into the General Service Corps in
March 1943. He subsequently transferred to the Royal Leicestershire Regiment and
served with them in North Africa and then in the invasions of Sicily and Italy, taking
part in the Battle of Casino in January-February 1944 and the later assault on the
Gothic Line. He transferred to the Army catering Corps at the end of 1944 and
served with them in various units, including a period with the ‘Glorious Gloucesters’
in Korea (although he was not present at the Battle of the Imjin River). He was
discharged in 1962. Mounted as worn; with copy of full record of service.
