Imperforate ½d Brown, 1½d brown, 2d pink (frame K) and 2d blue (frame A) essays each perfined "SPECIMEN" (Samuel type P2, recorded "from c.1900", these examples over 20 years earlier), on wove paper, each endorsed on reverse "surface ptd" and numbered "6" (1½d), "7" (½d), "8" (2d pink) or "9" (2d blue) with violet oval handstamp "PERKINS, BACON & CO LIMITED / ENGRAVERS / 69 FLEET ST., LONDON".
