Oil on Board by Joseph Payton, British 19th Century. Interior Scene Dated 1868.
Appears to be in Good Condition.
Provenance From a New Jersey Estate.
Dimensions- Sight-15""x 13"". Frame- 19""x 16"".
This is a typical oil painting of figure group painting with Baroque style. The picture is full of romantic charm. Taking a gorgeous and noble sense of form as the starting point, it depicts exquisite characters, scenes and rich content. The picture first shows a wide indoor scene. Warm gray is used as the keynote of the picture, which is contrasted with the main characters with beautiful colors, so as to bring out the importance of the main characters. The two characters in the back are gray in color and are perfectly placed in the background. It also opened up the space for the screen. The women's silk-textured skirts are delicate and gorgeous, and the men's noble temperament illustrates the social status of the characters. The woman behind is looking into the mirror, adding to the life and vividness of the picture. Although the picture has a classical technique. However, it is opposed to the serious, restrained and overly rational picture form of classicism, and endows the picture with a more intimate and flexible effect." This artwork is from a private collection in Hong Kong and will be shipped from there if successfully bid on.
