1942 Dieppe Raid Distinguished Conduct Medal to H19744 Sgt G.U. Renwick Can Inf Corps (Replacement), 1939-1945 Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal (Maple Leaf clasp), BWM with MID oakleaf and Canadian Police Service Medal By City of Vancouver to G.U. Renwick 1966 (Middle 4 un-named as issued) very fine and better, half court mounted as worn.
Gilbert Usher Renwick's DCM was announced in the London Gazette dated 14th March 1946 in recognition of gallant and distinguished services at Dieppe in August 1942. His MID was announced in the London Gazette dated 8th November 1945. Canadian records confirm he was born 17/9/15, was serving with Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada when taken POW at Dieppe on 19th August 1942 and liberated from Stalag 357 14/4/45. With 3 original POW cards dated 1943-44 to Edinburgh and Canada and 2 group photos in POW camps. (See photo) (R)

More Information

1. It is an official replacement and marked as such. We have not tested it for its silver content.
2. I do not think the DM, BWM and Canadian Vol Svc Medals are silver. As he would have appeared to have lost his originals, I suspect he replaced the un-named medals with whatever he could get.
