Peaks, Passes and Glaciers by Members of the Alpine Club - Fourth Edition. In plastic protective jacket. Cloth clean save for a few light marks. Corners bumped and curled. Head and foot of spine bumped similarly, with tears/splitting at foot. Internally, generally good, with foxing concentrated around colour plates. Some offsetting to plates. Map 2 (The Mountains and Glaciers of Bagnes) lacking. Map 5 (The Saas Grat and the Fletsch-horn) torn free and inserted loose. Final large folding map (Glaciers of Snowdon) with a tear approx. 7cm in length. All colour plates present.
Arnold, Everest - all three volumes in protective plastic jackets.
The Reconnaissance 1921 - Foxing to endpapers. One folding map torn free and inserted loose. All photographic plates present and in good condition. Pages generally clean, with light foxing/discolouration at edges in places. Binding good. Cloth with light marks but otherwise very crisp, with only light bumps to corners and minor shelf wear.
The Assault on Mount Everest 1922 - Ownership inscriptions (1920s) to front free endpaper. Expedition at Base Camp and Fording the Bhong Chu plates are lacking. Other plates are all in good condition; so too are the two folding maps at the end of the text. Text block is split. Pages are mostly clean, with occasional light foxing and discolouration round edges. Cloth covers with minor light marks but otherwise good. Bumped corners and minor shelf wear.
The Fight for Everest 1924 - Bookseller's pencil annotations to first free endpaper. Foxing to endpapers and title - and throughout at page edges. Folding map at end is lacking. All photographic plates are present and in good condition. Binding is good, with cloth covers nice and clean. Light bumps to corners and at head and foot of spine. Foxing to page edges.
In summary, though with occasional losses and certainly not immaculate, a very presentable set.
