A late 18c eight day longcase clock, the 38cm arched brass dial signed Thos. Walesby, Horncastle and having foliage decorated corner spandrels and an engraved maritime scene to the dial centre. The dial has date and seconds indicators and a name boss in the arch. The five pillar movement has anchor escapement and rack strikes on a bell. It is contained in a plain oak case with columns attached to the hood door and with central ball and spire finial and pineapple finials to the corners. The long trunk door has an arched top and raised edge moulding and the base is plain with a wavy plinth. Clock stands 229cm h overall.

More Information

Dial would benefit from cleaning and re-silvering. Minute hand has been replaced. Movement needs cleaning but seems complete apart from missing its date wheel. Case is generally complete with slight opening of the joints on the hood corners.
