A Dolland of London leather bound telescope, mid 19th century, the tube engraved "Presented To Captain Robert Pollock By The Passengers Of The Ship Plantagenet 1854", the leather binding enclosing a panel depicting naval signal flags, 64.5cm long unextended (at fault)

NOTE: The Plantagenet sailed from Southampton on 16 April 1854 and arrived in Port Jackson, Sydney, Australia on 28 July 1854

More Information

The image through the telescope is indistinct, suggesting that at least one of the eyepiece lenses requires cleaning. The brass object lens housing is loose and slides off the tube. The leather tube binding and brass fittings show expected wear. The flag chart and its protective panel show some yellowing.
