This elegant Egyptian amulet, carved from translucent agate, depicts a seated cat and dates back to the Late Period to Ptolemaic Period (664-30 B.C.). The amulet captures the grace and poise of the cat, an animal revered in ancient Egyptian culture as a symbol of protection, fertility, and grace. Cats were associated with the goddess Bastet, protector of the home.
