A mahogany and gilt metal mounted cylinder bureau with ormulu mounts in Louise XV Transitional style, late 19th century; the shaped top with openwork three-quarter gallery above a recessed frieze of beaded panels and laurel wreaths, the tambour cover with twin foliate cast handles opening to a fitted interior with leather skiver; above five drawers, all with laurel wreath cast handles, one with paper label affixed detailing the item's 1940 bequest; the sides with draw leaves with further skivers; on cabriole legs to hairy paw sabots; 120cm high, 158cm wide closed, 83cm deep
