including a dress tunic and matching trousers, the tunic bears two gold stars on each sleeve, all the gold gilt buttons are present with a ribbon bar on he left breast, the tunic was made by H. Huntsman & Sons of London and is named on the label Viscount L de La Panouse and dated 28.08.17; sold with a photograph of the recipient
Louis de La Panouse was born in Paris on the 19th of September, 1863. In civilian life, he was greatly involved in sports; in 1916, he proposed the creation of a baseball league in France. He served as the president of the International Sporting Club of Monte Carlo.
He served as a Colonel in the Cavalry pre-WW1 and during the Great War was a General de Brigade. He was posted to London as Military Attache to the French Embassy; he reported during the Easter rising to the Minister of War in Paris 'that 'the rebels were 'in the pay of our enemies.'
Louis de La Panouse passed away in 1944.
