Provenance: Purchased Christies, South Kensington, 29 September 2009, Lot 97

Literature: See P. Spencer-Davies ‘ Scottish Pewter 1600-1850’ (2014), p. 159, fig, 6.41, for two similar communion flagons, referred to as lavers, although with English capacities, attributed to Scotland. The author notes ’they are extremely scarce, and typically do not have a makers' mark’.
