A good detached lock from a Manton flintlock carbine, the plate engraved with a crown and “WR” over “Tower”, date “1836” and ordnance lock viewers mark. VGC, retaining hints or original finish. 1000 Manton carbines were ordered in late 1834, but the final batch was not ready until mid 1837. They saw little service as they were overtaken by the percussion era. Plate 32
