N.B. The successful birth of twins in 17th Century Europe was both rare, and celebrated. It is possible that further research might reveal the full identity of the sitters.
Provenance: the estate of a Dutch lady, West Country, England, by family repute believed acquired via Anton Mak Kunst en Antiekveilingen, Dordrecht, Circa 1947/8
