A smokebox numberplate, 5989, from a GWR 4900 Hall Class 4-6-0 built at Swindon in December 1939 and named CRANSLEY HALL after a 17th Century country manor house near Kettering, Northamptonshire. After spells at Southall, Banbury and Oxford, it finished its days at Neath from where it was withdrawn in July 1962 and sold for scrap to Hayes at Bridgend. Repainted, the back later stripped.
