[NAVY / ADMIRALTY / BANKING] a collection of documents relating to SIR EVAN NEPEAN, (1751-1822) of the Admiralty, including 10 manuscript or part-printed cheques / requests for payment, Dover 1798-1799, all endorsed and signed in full or with initials by Nepean, including 2 on account of the sloop Mercurius; 2 others with ms. dockets to the verso in Nepean's hand; a letter (2 pp. with integral leaf) to Nepean from the Dover banker J. Fector, regarding "230-240 gun boats (if worthy to be so called) abt. 160 of them lay sunk", at Dunkirk, dated 26th October, 1802, docketed 'Secret' in Nepean's hand; the expenses of J. Groves, to Nepean, re costs attendant to the prosecution of Carter the Bill-Sticker, etc., 1 p. foolscap, Jan. 1793; & a small q. (5) of bills & receipts regarding expenses incurred regarding the costs of custody, etc. of 2 French prisoners, Dover 1794 - with no obvious Nepean connection but part of this collection; & 2 docs. relating to maritime matters & the Margate bank Cobb & Co. (Q).
